Weber's IGA

Here's a screen capture of Weber's newly updated website.  The milk is their door buster this week.
Weber's IGA in the Village of Oak Creek is a very interesting store.  For us, it's never been a "destination" grcoery where one goes to shop.  That's different, of course, if you live and/or work in VOC.  Even though Weber's prices are higher than everyone but Safeway, you can't justify driving to Sedona, Camp Verde or Cottonwood to shop for groceries when Weber's sits right in your lap.

That is what has kept Weber's in business all these years.  The people who run Weber's are savvy smart and they know how to make money and meet their payroll and keep their supplier paid and happy.  They have a enviable track record through, thick, thin and tragedy.

Weber's gets our vote as one of the most successful family run groceries in this whole sector of Arizona.

With that said, there's not much reason for us to shop at Weber unless we happen to be in the area for a hike.  If there's a smoking deal, then we're gonna stop by and score that deal.  However, we can't justify driving over to VOC just to score a grocery deal.  We can (and do) justify driving to Camp Verde and Cottonwood because we have a whole list of things to do in those places besides shop for groceries.

It should be noted that we never make a trip to the grocery unless we have other things to do in that particular community.  So for us, we have to be passing through VOC before we will stop there.  Now folks we know who get their mail at the VOC Post Office have an entirely different paradigm for shopping at Weber's.  If you already go to VOC on a regular basis, you will definitely want to keep a close eye on Weber's weekly ads and online specials.

Weber's recently decided to go "all in" on mobile devices, social media, websites, online deals and so forth.
It appears to us that a savvy shopper could score some screaming deals at Weber's by enrolling online and receiving email offers from Weber's.  We will probably sign up just for the heck of it to see how they operate this "new face" of Weber's.

Over the past 20+ years of shopping at Weber's we've learned a few tricks of the trade.  Weber's meat department is very good.  They serve some very discriminating customers there in VOC and they can't afford to sell substandard meat products like Basha's often does.  If Weber's offered those dreg top sirloins we saw in Camp Verde yesterday, you can bet Weber's would hear about it BIG TIME from their customers.  In Camp Verde, it's "business as usual" for that meat department so nobody complains and life goes on.

We always keep an eye on what's happening with the Weber's meat specials.  From time-to-time, you can score some really, truly great deals there at fair market prices.  You basically just have to "know your meats" and know what you are looking for and jump it when you see it.  Just because Weber's has a good meat department doesn't mean you are going to get a good deal in any given week.  Things change.  Things vary.

Weber's produce department is also pretty good.  We'd give it at least a "B" grade.  Sometimes Weber's will have truly awesome deals in produce.  Other times, you're going to get hosed in produce.  You just have to be careful.

We almost never buy any "hard goods" from Webers.  It's very rare when Weber's "hard goods" prices are competitive with what we can buy comparable items for elsewhere.  It's so rare, we can't even remember when we last bought a canned or bottled item there.  Ditto with frozen items.

We just generally watch Weber's meats and produce to see if there is an eye-opening deal on something.  When there is we buy it, IF we are passing through on some other mission or errand.

This week, Weber's wants you to come into their place to buy milk for two bucks a gallon.  That's not a world beater deal--milk is only $2.59 elsewhere but at least it's nice to see it at the tidy price point of two bucks.  The only other possibility is large navel oranges for 45 cents a pound.  Weber's gets good quality citrus and this is an OK deal.  Not smokin', just OK.

The only meat item this week is $2/lb. boneless pork chops.

We couldn't find anything else of interest in their ad.  We visited Weber's to pick up the circular but we didn't buy anything, not even the milk.

Here is Weber's website:

Now that we know Weber's has a state-of-the-art website, we will sign on and keep an eye on it for this blog.  We suspect they will offer us some deals that will give us some incentive to go hiking around Bell Rock so we can then visit Weber's on the way home.

We have always and will continue to forever wish Weber's the Best of Success.  They are doing an awesome job in a tight, small, clannish little community.  The fact they have survived and prospered is an inspiration and a testimonial to customer service, dedication and True Heart!

Many Cheers, jp
