Well, Kale

"Well Kale" rhymes with "Well Hail" which rhymes with "Well (a hot place)".  So, when we say "Well, Kale," we tend to make it sound like the latter alternative.

Let's be frank.  WE LOVE KALE.  ALL HAIL KALE!

When the huge, huge, HUGE Deep Freeze hit that rocked produce like an earthquake, it hit lowly Kale, too.  Not many people would mourn the loss of Dear Friend Kale but, trust me, Susun and I were totally bummed out.  We would raise our palms and look askance and say in a mocking tone, "Well, Kale?  Not so much."

Kale's price skyrocketed to $1.39 a bunch but what's more they cut the size of the bunch by two thirds so that effectively meant the "actual" price tripled or quadrupled.  The bunches of $1.39 kale were so small it would be unthinkable to use them to make something to actually eat.

Consequently, we haven't been eating our Dearly Beloved Kale for weeks and weeks and, oh, so LONG WEEKS!

Imagine our surprise today in Food City when Kale came back from the dead!  "Well, Kale" took on a whole different tone of voice and inflection.  WAH-WHOO!

The price droped back to a normal of 89 cents a bunch and they quadrupled the amount of kale in the bunch and it was robust and awesome and....well, KALE!

Oh, let us sing "Happy Days are here again!"  The house is filled with the aroma of garlic, onion and kale all simmering together making their sweet aromatic melody and Life is GOOD!

Well, KALE!  Indeed.

Many Cheers, jp
